EMDR is a set of strategies used within a comprehensive model of trauma which has been been shown to assist individuals in the resolution of traumatic experiences or effects. EMDR should only be used by trained practitioners and should be a part of an overall treatment protocol that addresses all aspects of a person's treatment such as relationships, functioning, personal goals, and health. At CHOICES, Lois Ehrmann and Karen Hansel are certified in the use of EMDR through EMDRIA. Lois is also an Approved Consultant and is currently providing consultation to trained EMDR clinicians who are pursuing certification.
Currently at CHOICES, Evelyn Wald, Jessie Starks, Vicki Giulian, Jon Edwards, Patty Liu have been formally trained in EMDR (EMDRIA). Our newest clinician Chelsea Moroski is scheduled for formal training this coming Fall 2018.
CHOICES sponsors EMDR Basic Trainings on a regular basis and every fulltime clinician at CHOICES is encouraged and offered a chance to become trained.
Two organizations exist for the purpose of education and training for professionals in the use of EMDR as well as monitoring client welfare and research about effectiveness. The organizations can be contacted by clicking on the links below:
